Good for more than just hiking

I imagine those boots were "snakeproof" too. Probably very useful in that rugged, rocky terrain!

It's a hike

Pine Creek Canyon is in the Spring Mountain Range west of Las Vegas. It has a paved parking area on a loop drive, but the hike to the canyon is a pretty hefty one. I'd not try it in July, frankly.

Hidden figures

If you enlarge this picture, it may remind you of those comic page puzzles and workbooks from the past where it asks you to find the hidden objects, faces and figures in the picture. I was never any good at those (still am not) but if you have a good imagination, you may be able to find some mingled into the scenery and branches of the landscape. Of course, as usual, I have found nothing.
