Flying Lessons at LSU: WWII

My mother, Daisy Luke, earned her pilot's wings at LSU in a program where students were taught to fly by the military in order to have a pool of flight capable people in the states that could move planes around when necessary. This picture was taken at Ryan airport and she was the first graduate of this program. Her husband, Captain W.J.Luke, was serving in the Army in the South Pacific.

Daisy Luke

Very interesting. My Dad, E. W. Luke, was from Texas and spent the war in Hawaii. Came out as a Lieutenant Colonel, and one of my grandkids is named "Daisy Luke."
