My mother sits with her mother on what must have been a chilly day in the Dogwood section of Levittown, Pennsylvania. They were enjoying the new front porch that my father built out of stones, sand and bricks.

The siding behind them was red and white and made of asbestos. On a 2018 drive through Levittown I could only see one house where this type of siding was still visible, while on others it could be hidden beneath newer siding.
