Stivers Elementary: 1969-1970

My class photo from O.J. Stivers Elementary, 1969-1970. I'm in the front row, fourth from the right. I look happy to be there. It must be the plaid pants.

Apache tie

I would have been in Grade 7 at this time, so I have a couple of years on these kids, but the fashions are all too familiar to me. What strikes me as odd now is that even though we’re at the end of the sixties in this class picture (hippies, Vietnam, etc.), the kids themselves look they’re out of the fifties. Except for that blonde boy with the Apache tie in the second row, you wouldn’t know that all that sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll was lurking right outside the front door.
