I am not a railroad man but I am good with a wrench. The excessive grease at that wheel and up thrown up behind Mr. Mack's head would indicate a problem they are identifying.

Amazing Machinery

I always marvel at steam engines. The sheer size and intricate parts all designed without computers. I didn't know that there was a U.S. Army Railroad Battalion. I'd love to see more pictures involving them and the wartime railroads!

I'm also glad that in the last few years we've seen a resurgence of steam programs here in the US.
