Home Ec project quality

Having grown up in a houseful of girls who made their own clothes, I admire anyone who takes up sewing. However, neither the blouse nor the jumper would have passed muster at 4-H judging, or even made it that far. Our mom and my older sisters would have taken one look at the topstitching and how the straps are turned, and said, "Tear that out." That said, our high school Home Ec teacher would probably have given this an A. I regret having to take the required Home Ec classes back in early 1970's high school, as most of us were rural kids who knew how to cook, can, and sew fairly well. Though too late for me, in the late 1970s, girls were finally permitted to take shop instead of Home Ec. Oh, how I would have loved to gain those skills; since our dad was a "Don't touch the tools" kind of guy.

1970?

That young lady was about 7 years behind in her fashion sense. Looks more like 1963.

The difference five years can make.

Looking at this photo and at that of the 1975 guy, one hell of a difference.
