These children don't look too happy! Vienna was rural then and was "the country" outside the Beltway... now metro Washington goes all the way to Manassas and this home must be long gone. Amazing, too, that the little one could keep so still for her picture.

[My grandmother used to tell stories about the "Belt-Way" in the 1920s, when it was an unpaved eight-lane dirt road. If the weather was bad it took two days to get from Silver Spring to Tysons Corner! - Dave]
