I hope it's alright that I'm just posting these in the comments but I was inspired to illustrate a second Boy Scout after this one yesterday.

If there are more than these six, I'd love to see them.

Is it not likely that his young man participated in the Great War a few years later? If so, this photograph sadly may have prefigured an actual wound.
