My parents had a vacation planned for Cuba at the time the revolution exploded. My dad is from Cuba so he did not hesitate and we went there despite all the turmoil in Havana. As we were sightseeing in Havana we came upon the "Presidential Palace" where a few revolutionary guards were maintaining security. My dad asked one of the guards if he could photograph me with him. He agreed and furthermore, his partner offered his rifle for me to pose with it for a better photo. I believe the photo was taken in January of 1959. The soldier's signature is in the back of the photo and I have tried to locate him several times in visits to my family in Cuba but have had no luck.
