I was born as part of the great cookie-cutter housing experiment of Levittown, Pennsylvania. My parents bought 110 Dogwood Drive brand new, while my mother was pregnant with me. There were three options each original owner had: which lot, what color asbestos siding (my mother chose red), and whether to build the house with central air. (My parents chose yes, for $500 extra). Everything else was the same in every house. This is the mid-century modern bathroom of those homes. I am the 13 month old child in the foreground of the scene, which was taken by my mother in April of 1955. I have no clue who my inquisitive playmate was behind me.
