Our holdings include hundreds of glass and film negatives/transparencies that we've scanned ourselves; in addition, many other photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs) in the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted, restored and reworked by your webmaster in accordance with his aesthetic sensibilities before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here. This is part of my ongoing quest to scan all the family photos that have come into my possession over the past few years. The interesting ones, at least. Here's my grandfather again, this time at the Pyramids in Egypt between late 1944 and late 1945. There's no note on the back of this print but he's clearly just being a tourist. View full size.
