Dynamite at the Rink: c. 1909

At the new skating rink on Water Street in Saugatuck, Michigan, c. 1909. Saugatuck was and is a historical and picturesque town on Lake Michigan. Jay Myers - man on the right - ran the chain ferry that crossed the Kalamazoo River a few yards away. The burro named Dynamite was a photographic prop. Herman Simonson, who no doubt took this photo, had a studio across the street, a good location to make and sell tourist photos. View full size.
