My grandparents, Ruth and Stanley Harding, taking a break from their daily duties to say cheese. My grandaddy would retire detective sgt. of the Montgomery County, MD, police force, and spend the rest of his life farming. This photo was taken in the mid 1940s, but I'm not positive as to which year exactly. I love the fir and dimples! View full size.

This is my mother in 1953, clowning around just outside of Tavy's Diner, which was once located on East 14th St. in Oakland, CA. Tavy's was a popular spot for my mother and a group of her friends and they stopped in daily just after school was let out.

The man seated on the running board is my wife's paternal grandfather, Eliseo Diaz. The photo was taken (we assume) in San Antonio, Texas in the late 1920s. My father-in-law, a sharp 91-year-old himself, isn't sure if his father owned that Model T or was just resting himself there on his friend's car. Either way, he was happy to have recently discovered this shot of his father in his familiar, cross-legged pose. I am equally happy to scan it and present it here on my favorite daily haunt, Shorpy.

My dad entered and often won economy runs with his MG Midget. He would modify it for the events and then convert it back to his daily driver. Mansfield, Ohio 1962. View full size.
