Mak-A-Tractor That would be the Staude Mak-A-Tractor conversion kit for the Model T. Steel lug rear wheels with gear reduction built in. Cars axle drove small gears that ran in larger gears on the inside surface of the wheels.

Before there was spray paint ...Street gangstas had to content themselves with soaping windows.

Traveling CarnivalThis is what carnies call a "pit show." The attraction (maybe a giant snake, "wild man" geek, or freak animal) is at ground level. Customers pay, climb stairs out of frame to right, pass along the platform to gaze down at the attraction, and can be seen exiting to left.

Ships of the prairieI drove from Denver to Dodge City last summer. I had never been in Kansas before and was amazed at the number of grain elevators that would appear on the horizon every few miles, looking like sailing ships on the flat sea of prairie.
Still going strong 80 years later

By Any Other NameMILW is the reporting mark of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad as can be seen on some of the boxcars in the foreground. It was also known as the Route of the Hiawathas, used to name a number of its high speed passenger trains as seen on a boxcar in the background.
It was the last of the transcontinental railroads to go into service and was famed for its two sections of electrified trackage in Montana, Idaho and Washington. It all came to an end with its third bankruptcy in 1977. Sections of the railroad still remain in use by Canadian Pacific and others.

This is a photo of my great-grandfather (William F. Ball) and my great-grandmother (Lucia Ball) on the platform of the depot at Myers, Montana. My great-grandfather was the agent & operator there for almost forty years and I believe this photo was taken shortly before his retirement in the early 1950s. To supplement his income from the Northern Pacific Railway, he was also a chiropractor and an optician. When he wasn't copying train orders and conducting railroad business, he treated the various ailments and maladies of the other railroad employees as well as local farmers and ranchers.
