Vintage photos of:
My grandpa Frank on the left, sometime in the 60's. Halloween party or just been drinking too much, I don't know. Not sure either what he would think of me putting up this picture on the Internet. Note back in the days when beer came in tin cans and the Tareyton cigarettes reference (though it's reversed here).
My aunt Susan, around two years old. According to my dad when he was alive, their neighborhood is now Parking Lot C for LA International Airport, which I believe since their street address of 9025 Goebel Avenue does not show anywhere on Google Maps to exist (I confirmed this from their WW2 food ration books I have saved). Or the street was renamed? Can anyone ID the car in the background?? View full size.
In answer to countless requests for photos of 13-year-old boys smoking pipes while driving the automobile ultimately to be called the Toyota, I hereby submit this 35mm Kodacolor negative my brother took in January 1960. Full disclosure: it's my brother's unlit pipe and I'm not driving. I'm in a parked 1960 Crown Custom at Hil Probert's Toyopet dealership in Larkspur, California. That's our house up the hill at the top right. Note the special bonus for fellow Shorpy obsolete car make aficionados. View full size.
