Misses Edith and Irene Mayer, daughters of movie magnate Louis Mayer, call on President Calvin Coolidge. View full size.
that these two sisters really did not get along, they seem to be on this day. I believe they were both extremely intelligent girls, especially Irene.
I bet PETA would have a field day with those furs!
Coolidge, you smooth, lucky son-of-a-gun!
I wouldn't think so; she looks mighty fine to me.
Is it wrong to covet the outfit on the left?
"I wonder why these gals are paying a call on President Coolidge"
As long as rich people and powerful people feed off each other, they will find time for each other.
President Coolidge was known for his sense of humor, at a party a woman said to him that she had a bet that she could get him to say more than two words to her, he responded "you loose". He was also know as a conservative as were these girls father. Mayer wanted to make happy movies and musicals which by the way served the country well during the depression.
I wonder why these gals are paying a call on President Coolidge...he was a modest and conservative man, hardly the type (unlike Harding) to hang out with the Hollywood crowd.
The photo indicates it was taken in 1927--those were still boom times. Depression wasn't for another 2 years.
