Feed My Puppies Too: 1930s

A young girl, tenderly clutching her pet puppies, before being transported to a dinner meal at the Peoria, Illinois, Neighborhood House, which delivered meals to the elderly and fed children in a cafeteria.
The story told has it she wouldn't let them out of her sight until assured that the puppies would be fed too. Picture taken by an unknown employee of the Neighborhood House. The girl lived in the slums at Cinder Point between the Railroad and Illinois River, at the foot of Sanger Street, nearby the Flatboat City locale, Peoria, Illinois, circa mid-1930s.
