The caption written on the scrapbook under the picture says 'Gobbie Hill.' Linn, KS. The family left Kansas around 1904 for a new life in the booming town of Los Angeles. We Great Grandchildren also born in Los Angeles always called them 'Gross Grandpa and Grandma;' gross meaning great in German. Great Grandfather was born the first day they arrived in New York from Germany, thus the family legend is that he was made in German but produced in America. No family member today knows or can find out where Gobbie Hill might have been. View full size.
