Taking a Kitchen Break

This is a photo of my grandmother Manola Valcarcel, and the boarding house cook and chamber maid (having some fun). It was taken in the mid-forties (approx. 1945). They were taking a break from working in the kitchen at my grandfather's boarding house in Mt. Tremper (located nearby Woodstock, New York). My father, mother and her sister are on the porch steps.
