Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

According to this site the Dominion Photo Company operated between 1914 and the 1960s in Vancouver BC.
The sound of dozens of steel guitars must have been something to hear. The players in the second row, right end, behind the gentlemen in black suits, have high-grade all metal Resophonic guitars, probably made by National Musical Instruments, the preferred brand for Hawaiian players until electric steels took over.
