Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Something has to be wrong with this image. I was under the impression that nobody was having a good time in 1950. It is good to see that the exuberance being shown by this happy lady, proves that particular rumor is entirely unfounded.
