About the Photos

Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Familiar faces

The far left kitty seems to be wearing a shirt rather than a dress--could he be the boy cat we've seen in several photos before, including the artillery kittens?

Dave, I love these pictures more than I can say. Many thanks!!

Perhaps four of them drink tea, but the second one from the right appears to have had too much coffee or some other stimulant.

[That kitty's name is Michele. - Dave]
