Vent holes

I see your dad used an apple corer to produce perfectly symmetrical vent holes in the lid of the pumpkin. I've always had scorch marks on the underside of the lid from the candle placed at the bottom of the pumpkin, and must assume he was being cautious about the fire part of the jack-o-lantern. I love the way he has his hand on his carving job in a proud, proprietary kind of way.
