I purchased this 8x10 photo at a swap meet. On the back it says: L-R Wally Miles, Jackie Regard, Francis Willams. Photo by Howard Morehead. View full size.
Jackie Rigard was married to Wally Miles. She is now 86 years old and lives in Santa Clarita, CA. It is possible that Wally Miles was the son of Frances E. Williams but I can't find anymore information on him.
Could this been taken by Morehead when he was at LACC? I have found several references to a Wally Miles and a Jackie Rigard (slightly different spelling) as LACC students in the California Eagle, where Morehead was also a photographer.
... that the young woman on the right is Frances E. Williams as posited in the previous post. That Frances Williams was born in 1905 which means she would have been ~50 at the time of this picture if it is from the 50s. I found a picture of her at a "Stop WW2" rally (so the '40s, I assume) at almost the same angle. You decide.
[The 1950s dating is just a guess. -tterrace]
Given that the photographer was well-known for shooting the Los Angeles African-American performing arts scene, is it possible that the person on the right of this photo is pioneering Los Angeles actress, impresario, and activist Frances E. Williams?
Dick Shawn's beach pad in "Mad Mad World" immediately came to mind.
Don't know about the subjects but the the photographer seems to be somewhat famous, assuming it's the same guy.
Not counting the bathing attire,
Knotty pine and scalloped fascia boards: Almost any kitchen in America, ca. 1935-1960
Bamboo wainscot: Definitely a beach cottage.
