Empire State much later

Empire State Building was built in 1931.

[In his comment, timotheus refers to the Empire Building, finished in 1898. -tterrace]

5 Years Later: Then and Then

Since davidk found that great pic from nearly the same angle, I thought it'd be fun to do a flip comparison. Man, a lot can change in five years in Manhattan.

Just Guessing

I'm not a Manhattanite, but based on rough triangulation and an estimate of altitude, and what I take to be the Empire Building in the nearer ground, I am guessing this was shot from the Whitehall Building - possibly atop the new 31-story Whitehall "Annex" built in 1910. Any New Yorkers out there with photos to compare?

From where?

Dunno, but probably from the same place this photo was taken five years later.
