That '70s Class

My sixth-grade class at Mt. Rose Elementary School in York, Pennsylvania, 1971-1972. If we had not yet reached the "awkward" phase, we sure were close. The chap on the far right in the first row later had a career in Hollywood--you can read about him at imdb.com. View full size.

Unfortunately no, but I'm standing right next to him.

Today’s Top 5

Hair Empathy

I can sympathize with Miss Skeptical, second from left in the middle row: I was also the only girl in my class who couldn't grow wonderful long Laurie Partridge hair. I think I also wore that expression a lot.

Oh God, it's me!

That "husky" lad could be me - I was that way at that time, and wore bad-fitting clothes that accentuated rather than concealed my girth. Thanks for the BAD memories LOL!

Love it

Second girl from left, second row looks like a young Martha Plimpton.

I love the presence of so much orange. And I see a hint of avocado green in that boy's shirt on the second row. They would've matched my family's kitchen during that era.

Seeing a pattern

The two boys anchoring each end of the front row have outfits that perfectly match the color of the glazed bricks.

Super Funny

My wife and daughter love "One Tree Hill", especially this guy's character. It was funny to see this here on Shorpy. I generally do not click on any images from times when I was alive, but something made me click. Possibly the fact it looks almost identical to my class photo, and the one before and after. I will certainly show them this photo and see if they can guess who it is.

Ouch!

Looking at the kid with he fluffy shirtsleeves to the right, let's no longer complain about tank tops, plaid shorts or flipflops.

Stripes! Yikes!

The striped pants in the middle remind me of my pants from about the same era: red, white, and blue! So patriotic.
