Boy Toy

The most interesting thing about this image is the boys' Spud Gun. The boy in the middle is holding the "ammo" -- a potato, not a rock.

A spud gun was like a cork gun where instead of a cork you poked the gun barrel into a potato, which created a small potato plug that filled the barrel. When you pulled the trigger it shot out with a small "Pop!"

He's the one you need to worry about. Who knows what he's hiding behind the one with the rock. The two in front are posing, but that other guy means business.

Small town America

Pawnee City -- less than 900 folks; hometown of "Larry the cable guy". No Walmart for at least 20-25 miles.

But these folks still know how to live.

There is a history society campus on the eastern edge of town; showing a one-room schoolhouse, general store, etc.

On the western side of town, they have a winery/micro-brewery next to a sizeable auto salvage yard. You won't see that in Napa Valley.

I guess these folks still know how to enjoy life and appreciate their neighbors.
