Lob in the Afternoon: 1904

Fencing
I cannot see the fencing, but it looks like the posts are up, but nothing as yet to stop the ball from going into the other courts. Perhaps the original photograph can resolve any netting that exists.

When we had a campus in the Bronx
Remember the Founders
The NYU Founders Memorial is visible in the photo – the spire was salvaged from the 1835 Washington Square building when the school relocated to The Bronx in the 1890’s. The University returned to its downtown roots in the 1970’s and the Memorial followed along.
Seaman-Drake Arch
Visible in center left, one mile over in the Inwood neighborhood is the Archway that was once the entrance to the Seaman mansion. Today the arch still exists, but it has been slowly taken over by low rise buildings and is now in a state of disrepair.

Except for the Victorian house, nearly everything in the original picture is now gone, including the monument.

I may be showing my age, but I think you should have stuck with Love In the Afternoon, though I grant the title might be lost on some. But wait, this is Shorpy and there are a fair quotient of adults in attendance, non?
