Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

People looked so much older then for their "age." She looks 30 at the youngest to me.
Very stylish! Love the shades and the argyle sweater, not to mention the ragtop in the background. She looks like she's getting through the war years without too much deprivation.
That's where my wife went to school in the 1980s. She wore the same type of sweater.
