The lady's bangs are graying. She has probably never saw running water in a house or a washing machine or a vacuum sweeper. Chances are good she never sat in a bathtub, only in a No.2 galvanized metal tub that was filled with water hauled up from the creek.
This is a really touching portrait. They are looking directly at the camera. This is who we are. God bless 'em, I hope everything turned out ok.
