They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

According to the Virtual Museum of the City of San Francisco's website, a Vietnam War peace march up Market Street took place August 6, 1966.
It's not much help dating this, but IMDB lists a film of that name released in West Germany on July 3, 1964. It was apparently one of many Mondo Cane knockoffs.
