Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

That is the original Hathaway Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, which became Berkshire Hathaway, which was eventually purchased by Warren Buffett and became an investment vehicle propelling the stock from roughly $16 a share to over $150,000 (now back down to $100,000).
