The McLaughlin Family

That's me with my parents at the North-South Carolina border in 1961. Dad was being transferred to Parris Island, S.C., from Camp Lejeune, N.C., to begin his first tour as a Marine Corps drill instructor. View full size.

Where Are We Now

Thanks for the comments. Dad also did a second tour as a drill instructor at the Recruit Depot in San Diego (67-70), and retired from the Corps in 1976. Although my parents divorced in 1972, both are still around and doing well.

Me Too

I have a picture of my dad at an identical SC welcome sign. It was taken in the mid 1950's on route 11. (No Gulf station in it.)

The D.I.
