About the Photos

Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

The timing is right for it

The timing is right for it to be a great vet and the injuries look sufficiently horrific. One can't help but wonder about the legions of homeless roaming America today. If the stats are to believed then a large portion of them are vietnam vets. Come back 25 years from now and see how many Iraq vets are wandering the streets asking for change and battling their personal demons. war sucks

WWI

Thats what I was thinking, poor guy

Casualty of the Great War,

Casualty of the Great War, perhaps?
