"Nice even teeth"

Judging by the note on the back, my mother must have sent this picture of my father when they started dating to her parents or a close friend: "Taken some time ago at a church choir outing. Very like him — singing or whistling, constantly happy. His mother says he's incurably happy.
"Not handsome, hair stands up, weighs 170 lbs., dark brown hair like mine, indistinctly blue eyes, nice even teeth."
Sharp-eyed camera buffs will also notice the Kodak Retina tucked in his pocket.

Long live the Kodak Retina!

I recently won a Kodak Retina IIa on eBay.

Found a website where I could download a copy of the owners manual and I was off. It is a sweet little camera that is now my everyday shooter. It was truly made to fit into your pocket and is just a joy to use.

And the best thing is it is built like a tank. If someone tries to mug me, I'll just beat them over the head with the Retina and then take a photo of their battered remains because I know it would still operate.

Try that with one of those fragile $1200 DSLRs of today.

And a spiffy dresser

Oh, I think you could safely say he came to grow on her!

A Looker

I have to disagree with your mother. He's actually quite handsome!
