TRYING TO FIND USE FOR WINE GRAPES

        Passage of the 18th Amendment has resulted in special activities in the Department of Agriculture to devise means of consuming the enormous quantity of grapes formerly used in the manufacture of wines. Prof. George C. Husmann, grape specialist of the Department, has spent many months in experiments to improve the quality of varieties not formerly considered adapted to table use. Photo shows Secretary of Agriculture Meredith and Professor Husmann in his laboratory with clusters of 37 varieties under test in the Government experimental vineyards.         Factory branch, Buick Motor Company's new assembling plant and office building, will be erected on site of the Unitarian Church property at Fourteenth and L streets northwest. The property has been leased by the company for ten years at a total rental of over $300,000. (Washington Post, April 18, 1920)
