Men of LeMans

Four roommates at the NAS Whiting BOQ parking lot. The year 1969. We are just back from some event that required our dress white uniforms, less swords. It might have been a change of command ceremony, I can't remember. We are standing in front of Bill McClelland's snazzy red convertible. He is the photographer. Left to right, Nick Witzell, Terry Waldbeesser and Joe Schrock. We all started our training in AOC Class 28-1968 in Pensacola Fl. Here we are still together during basic training. All of us got our wings. I stayed in contact with Bill into the 90s but lost contact with Terry and Joe during advanced training. If any Shorpy fan knows anymore about them, I would love to hear it. Class 43-68

I was in AOC class 43-68 at Pensacola and was an instructor in the T-28 at Whiting. Perhaps you yelled at me during Indoc!

I worked for the photographer in London

Capt McClelland was at CINCUSNAVEUR London. Good person to work for.

The blue Cutlass

Could have belonged to my parents, although it's unlikely it ever went to Florida. Theirs was a '66. I was a year old when this picture was taken. I have no memory of that car, but I've seen enough photos of it.

Lurking Datsun

My brother definitely wasn't in the Navy, but somehow his car snuck into this photo, over at the left consorting with the red Mustang.
