Not that D. Lange's photos need any help feeling "real", but the kid behind the trailer selecting the best rocks from the roadside makes this photo so real to me that I can put myself there with them. It's exactly what my kids would be doing, and in fact I could probably find a photo on my computer that has them in the background doing the same.

Is that a lip full of snuff?

I hope she and the kids made it through, she's got an interesting look to her.
