Dad and the Honda

It must have been cold, he's all bundled up. I think that bike was a 71 Honda CL175 Scrambler. Around 1973 or 74 in Akron, Ohio. View full size.

I Can Relate

I empathize with your Dad in this photo. It brings back some memories.

In 2nd year university, early 70s, I drove home in late March for a long weekend (Easter?) on my 1970 Kawasaki 350 Avenger (two-stroke), a trip of about 250 miles on freeway. Problem was, it was Canada, and it was just above freezing. I recall grimly stopping midway at a service center off the highway and shaking for minutes over my restaurant coffee before heading out to finish the trip.

That Kawasaki was scary-fast, as a quick twist of the throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear would lift the front wheel. It was way too light, powerful and squirrely for young guys like me. But I guess they were nothing compared to what's out there today...
