June 23, 1936. "General Motors truck -- Trukmixed Concrete, Horan Fuel & Feed Co., San Francisco." 79 years ago today! 8x10 acetate negative. View full size.
Seacue is right about Rockville Fuel and Feed, although they no longer sell either. Their website is www.rockvilleconcrete.com, reflecting their current business.
"Fuel and Feed" appears to have been a common type of business to supply farmers. Fuel for the tractor, etc., and feed for the animals. I think that Rockville (Maryland) Fuel and Feed is still operating. It seems to me that I have seen their name on Ready Mix concrete trucks.
Feed your horse concrete powder, your chickens home heating oil, and pour oats into your sidewalk form. How in heck did they ever get the idea to put those three product lines together under one roof?
Have not seen as bad a combo since I saw the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society. But at least I can imagine dogs joining humans on ice. Don't want to imagine fuel and feed and cement mixed.
