About the Photos

Our holdings include hundreds of glass and film negatives/transparencies that we've scanned ourselves; in addition, many other photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs) in the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) They are adjusted, restored and reworked by your webmaster in accordance with his aesthetic sensibilities before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here. All of these images (including "derivative works") are protected by copyright laws of the United States and other jurisdictions and may not be sold, reproduced or otherwise used for commercial purposes without permission.

It's Tommy's birthday today!

Happy birthday Tommy!

Tom's muscular physique

Why does this comedian have such a great physique? Turns out Tommy was a gymnast as a student, and also pursued track and football.

If you can trust the internet

Carol Burnett appeared on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour twice.

She was a guest in episode 006 (taped 3/3/67, aired 3/12/67), and she had a cameo in episode 111 (taped 11/10/67, aired 11/19/67).

This info can be found at

The Carol Burnett Show - first season

I worked on The Smo Bros Show - we never booked Carol - she did had the brothers on her first season tho of her own show in 1967 -- that's when this skit was done. Both shows shot at the same studios - CBS Television City.

[Incorrect. She was a guest twice in 1967. See above. And below. - Dave]
