1941 farm to market

1941, when it took two days from Mayland farm to DC market. These days, two days from CA farm to DC market?

And an unsettling effect of black and white photography. Whether that tomato is green or red, is has almost the same grey hue as those rather fair-haired kids' skin. Break out the sunblocker, please!

I think they're in the wrong field

They look more like Children of the Corn to me.
