A Life Upon the Wicked Stage

Helen Gallagher is currently 93 and still around, albeit retired. This photo dates to her Tony-winning performance as Gladys Bumps in the revival of "Pal Joey."

Busy lady. A triple-threat actress, she won a Tony Award in 1971 as Best Actress for a revival of "No, No, Nanette." And was nominated in 1966 her performance in "Sweet Charity."

She has an impressive list of theater credits and TV appearances. Ms. Gallagher played matriarch Maeve Ryan on the soap opera "Ryan's Hope," appearing in 789 episodes between 1975 and 1989, and was nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards, winning three.

Here's an interview with her from April 2019.
