Somehow I can't imagine that stringless tops were all the rage back then. Not even on the laid-back Sandwich Islands.

Bizarre

What an odd thing to "specialize" in - mixed-race Hawaiians? And one of the accursed pictorialists, to boot - photographers who did everything they could to make a photograph not look like a photograph.

After a little research, I see this was done for purposes of "enthography"?! Very strange.
