Elevator X: 1941

Elevator X: 1941

August 1941. "Great Northern grain elevator. Superior, Wisconsin." Medium format acetate negative by John Vachon for the Farm Security Administration. View full size.

My first car.

At least five Model A Fords in the lot.

It went KA-BOOM!

During WWII, grain elevator "X" exploded and burned. It was initially thought to be sabotage, but this didn't prove to be the case. After the war it was replaced with a concrete structure of the same name, still in operation.
