I would SO wear this outfit

I already have the period straw hat and shoes. It is a little tablecloth-y, but still cute for a Washington D.C. summer.

Bohemian Wrap-sody

I don’t think her dress looks anything like a tablecloth! I’m quite in love with it, very chic and a little Bohemian with the contrasting prints. I enjoyed the article about this very talented woman, and found a YouTube clip of her singing. She was fabulous!

Inside the Beltway

She was certainly a member of the political and social elite. Here husband was backed by Truman for the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination. Here's a somewhat misogynistic profile of the potential first-ladies.

Versatility

Dressed right from the dining room! Tablecloths have always been an easy source of fabric for multiple uses.

Must be a Speakeasy

because you don't often see cold drinks served out of coffee cups, which is what's on that tray, otherwise.
