We travel to Chicago now and then ...

And our preferred stop is at the Best Western in Hayti. The area is very rural still, maybe even more so than in 1942. We have come to understand that the locals pronounce the name of the town as Hay-TIE not like Haiti.

Wired

My dad's uncle Charles worked the lines back. He ran power in the Indian territories and laughed about running lights to the outhouses. Said he was one of the first to wire a head for a reservation.

Whatever be the job

your hammer is always an option.

Isolated

Isolated. Very isolated.

Work in progress ?

Only one wire of the branch is connected to the main line.

Was the HV distribution a 3-phase system in the US at that time or is the connected branch line on the left a neutral line with the 2 phase lines yet to be connected? Or was the 2-phase system only used from the local transformers to the end users?
