MenusI'd love to know what they had on the menu, there. I wonder what the "blue plate special" was, the day the picture was taken. Perhaps, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans? I'd love some right now!
Great Seeburg! That's a 1955 or 1956 Seeburg V200 jukebox complete with Wall-O-Matic remote selectors. Very nice and VERY large machine.
Thanks for the picture!

My father's Uncle, August Kappeler, born in Switzerland, who was a cavalry member of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Wonder what they were celebrating. Don't have a clue as to the identities of the characters in the background or where the bar was. View full size.
Rough Riders ReunionYour Fathers Uncle appears to be wearing some sort of medal.
It is not a Medal of Honor as it has the wrong star orientation. It does bear a resemblance to a souvenir of the 1st Rough Rider Reunion, held in Las Vegas Nevada in 1899. Perhaps that is where they are.
The other VegasThe Rough Rider Reunion of June 24-26, 1899 was held at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The hotel is still there, although the modern bar doesn't seem to fit the picture above. The other Vegas really didn't become anything until 1905 or so.

Thanks Dave, for the kind welcome and links. Here's one more for my dad's 100th birthday. After his mother was widowed, she moved the family to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where at age 14 my dad began learning to be a cowboy on the Wyoming Hereford Ranch. He became a proficient quarter horse trainer and calf roper, which he kept up after he found full time work as a telephone lineman. Here he is at age 29, roping at the Las Vegas, New Mexico Rodeo in 1938. He was delighted when an old friend sent him this photo, 50 years later. It's the moment just before the brahma calf knows it's been roped. Dad's horse knows, and is doing half the work by sitting down to flip the calf. View full size.
Great PhotoThis is one great photo, timing is perfect, everything is in motion, the rope, the calf, the horse, and your Dad. a split second later everything changes. You can just feel the action in this photo especially your Dad coming off the horse, a professional couldn't have done any better.

Smiley!Look at all of those happy faces! I am hispanic and this picture looks like it could come from my family album! My cousins all were happy and a bit goofy like the kid in the back! I am surprised there isn't a pair of bunny ears in the bunch! And isn't it nice NOT to see a gameboy or cellphone texter in the picture? You just know they were/are playing outside all day!
