That was an ad campaign run there in the 1980s. I remember seeing the billboards the first time I ever drove into town in 1984.
... but the Basilica is still there.
As we called it back in our miltary days. Although I don't recall the Chronometer maker I do relate to the I assume young man walking the trolley track.
Nearest lane features two horse drawn vehicles heading south and a car heading north. The far lane features a car heading north.
The split lanes made it simpler to find today's view of the same area. Buildings still there are Christ Episcopal Church (on the left), Perry Home and First United Methodist Church.
The Pepsi palapa looks so garish in the absence of any other ads. Today, it'd fit right in.
